Rocky to Headline Prizefighter in October

Twenty-four-year-old Rocky Fielding is to headline the Prizefighter bill on October 6th at the Olympia in Liverpool. The man dubbed “Rocky from Stocky” will take on Wayne Reed in a Central Area title clash in the super middleweight division.

Reed, whose record reads 9-5, is a southpaw of the same age as Fielding. He hails from the same neck of the woods as Kell Brook: the steel city of Sheffield. Sheffield’s Reed will want to settle a score at the Olympia as he lost there in the Prizefighter tournament that Rocky won, dropping a contentious decision to Joey Ainscough.

That contest between the two 24-year-olds will be at the top-of-the-bill with the undercard also being provided by Matchroom Sport’s managing director Eddie Hearn, who has organised a lightweight Prizefighter competition – a competition won by Fielding in his weight division in the past – to take place on the same night.

Included in that tournament will be defeated British Masters man Stephen Jennings and former British lightweight champion Derry Mathews. It’ll also feature Mathews’ former gym-mate and fellow Scouser Joe Tonks, along with Terry Needham, Gary Sykes, and Sykes’ fellow Yorkshireman Liam Patrick-Walsh. Mathews and Jennings, though, have history, as Mathews defeated Jenko in their British Masters tear-up in July of last year.

Tickets for ‘Rocky and the Betfair Prizefighters’ on Saturday, October 6th at the Liverpool Olympia are on sale now from Matchroom Sport on 01277 359900 and at www.matchroomboxing.com priced £30 unreserved, £50 ringside and £100 VIP.
