IBF Approve Hall/Butler, Caballero Next

The IBF has changed its tune when it comes to the sanctioning of the bantamweight world title fight between Stuart Hall and Paul Butler: the sanctioning body has finally approved the contest.Dennis Hobson Poster 22

This news comes after 24 hours of uncertainty following comments made by Lindsey Tucker, the IBF’s Championships Chairman, that Hall couldn’t have a second voluntary defence and must instead face his mandatory challenger Randy Caballero of the US.

Promoters Dennis Hobson and Francis Warren, of Queensberry, can now go ahead with the summer showdown show that was announced on April 19 at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena on June 7.

Caballero stopped Kohei Oba in a final eliminator last month for the mandatory position to take on Hall.

However, the fight now looks set to go ahead after Golden Boy Promotions, promoter of Randy Caballero, told the IBF that they would be happy for Butler to face Hall, providing the winner faces Caballero (21-0, 13KOs) within 90 days.
